Short, and in plain language. Using RosterOwl means you're fine with what's below. Last updated August 20, 2026.
What you can do
Use every tool on this site, for free, for as many classes and as many students as you like, at school or anywhere else. Print what you make, hand it out, put it on the wall, give it to a substitute, email it to a colleague. The charts, lists and PDFs you make are yours — we claim nothing in them and, since they never reach us, we couldn't claim it anyway. No attribution is required, and the "Made with RosterOwl" line on printouts can be switched off in every tool that adds it.
You can also point other teachers here, write about the site, and include screenshots of it in your own material.
What you can't do
- Charge people for access to RosterOwl, or resell it as your own product or service.
- Copy the site's code, design or brand to run a competing copy of it.
- Attack the site or its users — automated scraping that degrades it for others, attempts to break hosting, that sort of thing.
- Use it to do something illegal, or to harass anyone.
Your data is yours
Your classes, rooms and rules are stored by your own browser on your own device. We don't receive them, so we have nothing to sell, share, hand over or lose. The privacy page spells out exactly what does and doesn't cross the network.
Keep your own backups. Browser storage can be cleared by the browser, by a cleanup tool, by your IT department, or by you. Every tool has a "Save backup file" button. Before the end of a term — or before a school device gets reimaged — please use it. If your data is gone, we cannot recover it for you, because we never had a copy.
Provided as-is
RosterOwl is free software provided without a warranty of any kind. We work hard to make the PDFs correct and the tools fair, and we test them — but we can't promise the site will always be available, that a printout will suit every printer, or that a generated chart is right for your room without you checking it. Look over what you print before you rely on it.
To the extent the law allows, KNG Technologies is not liable for losses arising from using the site — including lost work, lost data, or a seating chart that turned out to be a bad idea in practice. Nothing here limits rights you have that can't legally be limited.
Availability and changes
The site is free, so we can't guarantee uptime, and features may change or be retired as the suite develops. If a tool you rely on is going away, we'll say so on the site before it does, with enough notice to save what you need.
These terms may be updated. The date at the top changes when they do, and anything that materially affects you gets a note on the site rather than a silent edit.
