Seating chart maker — table groups of 4
Pre-set to six tables of four below. Paste your class list, drag tables to match your room, and shuffle — students you mark "keep apart" land at different tables, not just different chairs. Free · no signup · nothing uploaded unless you turn on sync.
What's different about seating charts for table groups
In rows, "keep those two apart" means a few desks of distance. At tables, everyone in the pod is effectively adjacent — so RosterOwl treats the whole table as one neighborhood: a keep-apart pair is never placed at the same table, and a keep-together pair always is. That's the thing a generic randomizer gets wrong about pods.
Odd class sizes are normal, not an error. 26 students at tables of four means six full tables and one pair — add a "pair" cluster in arrange mode, or leave two seats empty at a table for your next new student. Empty desks stay empty when you shuffle if you lock them.
Pods aren't a separate app: this is the RosterOwl seating chart maker opened on a tables-of-4 room. When the unit ends and you want rows back for testing, switch the layout there — same class list, same rules, no retyping.

Questions teachers ask
Can I mix tables of 4 with a few pairs or single desks?
Yes — switch to arrange mode and add pairs or single desks anywhere. Real rooms are mixed; the template is just a starting point.
Can it balance groups by ability or behavior?
RosterOwl deliberately doesn't store ability or behavior data (that stays in your head, where it's private). What it gives you: keep-apart, keep-together, priority seating zones, locks — and instant reshuffles until the mix looks right to you.
Does the printed chart show my rules?
Never. Printed charts show names only — safe to hang on the wall or hand a substitute.
